AEM RUBBER
AEM rubbers (ethylene acrylic elastomers) are synthetic rubbers made of both ethylene and acrylic monomers. The presence of ethylene provides good resistance to low temperature, while oil resistance is improved thanks to the acrylic component. Furthermore, this material has good resistance to heat, ozone, weathering, and many chemicals.
In addition to excellent resistance to heat and ozone, AEMs offer remarkable vibration damping properties and good dynamic and abrasion characteristics over a wide temperature range.

Applications and other properties of acrylic AEM rubber
AEM ethylene acrylic elastomers are mainly used where excellent resistance to UVs, the use of oils, and resistance to high temperature apply.
AEM rubber is widely used in the automotive industry for hose applications, engine and transmission seals, and turbo-compressor components. Transmission and engine seals in AEM are resistant to lubricants and fluids – even those containing a high percentage of additives – and maintain their sealing properties under pressure. An example of use is in cylinder head cover seals.
- The main uses of acrylic AEM and AEM seals include:
- Turbo-compressor flexible hoses and other flexible hose applications
- Particulate filter sensor sheaths
- Air management elements
- Oil- and heat-resistant vibration dampers
- Engine and transmission seals
- Cylinder head cover seals
- Oil filter and oil pan seals
- Gearbox pistons
Lopigom uses AEM compounds to manufacture different seals and other components for applications in multiple sectors.
